“Venerable Master Hsing Yun Digital Humanities” Platform Launch to Be Held at Fo Guang University on September 23

Venerable Master Hsing Yun, Founding Master of Fo Guang Shan and Founder of Fo Guang University, witnessed nearly a century of Buddhist history and social transformation throughout his life. He maintained extensive connections with figures in culture, education, religion, politics, and many other fields, and his footsteps reached Taiwan, mainland China, and countries around the world. His profound influence on contemporary Buddhism and socio-cultural development is reflected in the rich body of historical materials and artifacts he left behind.

To establish an archival management mechanism for the Venerable Master’s tangible cultural assets and to support academic research, outreach, and application, the Fo Guang Shan Foundation for Buddhist Culture and Education and Fo Guang University have collaborated to develop the “Venerable Master Hsing Yun Digital Humanities” platform.

The platform is built upon three core components: “Venerable Master Hsing Yun Digital Archives,” “Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Dharma Propagation Map,” and “Seeking the Dharma.” By integrating the precious archival resources accumulated by Fo Guang Shan over the years, the platform brings together documents, manuscripts, images, artifacts, and other materials related to Venerable Master Hsing Yun. It aims to serve as an integrated platform for preservation, research, learning, and public outreach.

In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Fo Guang Shan’s founding and Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s centenary, the Fo Guang Shan Foundation for Buddhist Culture and Education and Fo Guang University will hold the “Venerable Master Hsing Yun Digital Humanities” Platform Launch on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, to share the platform’s milestone achievements.

The event will also feature a forum titled “Buddhist Textual Archives and Intelligent Research in the AI Era.” Scholars and experts will be invited to share insights on four major themes: Buddhist Texts and Cultural Preservation, Digital Archives and Knowledge Organization, Digital Humanities and Buddhist Studies, and AI and Intelligent Cultural Platforms. The forum aims to promote academic exchange and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Scholars and experts from within and outside the university are cordially invited to attend.
