I. Forum Overview
Fo Guang University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of History, and Venerable Master Hsing Yun Digital Humanities Research and Development Center will jointly host the “Intelligence × Humanities: 2025 Digital Humanities and AI Interdisciplinary Exploration Forum.”
Rapid advancements in technology have profoundly reshaped society. Over the past two decades, emerging digital technologies have further driven academia and industry to pursue digital transformation, inspiring major breakthroughs in scholarly research.
Digital humanities has flourished in Taiwan, receiving substantial support from both academic circles and the government. Universities and research centers have invested heavily in digital humanities platforms and research projects, achieving significant outcomes through widespread scholarly participation. The integration of information technology into literary, historical, and philosophical research has helped overcome previous challenges in data collection and analysis, uncovering more research materials and creating unprecedented possibilities for research.
Contemporary development in the humanities has transcended what might be considered traditional research. Historians are constructing interactive digital maps; literary scholars are using computers to find patterns across millions of books. In particular, interdisciplinary collaborative research brings together scholars from different fields, sparking new ideas and producing more forward-thinking academic outcomes. Scholars across all fields are utilizing intelligent digital tools to make their work more dynamic, impactful, and visually engaging.
The forum aims to bring together experts from across Taiwan to foster interdisciplinary dialogue, share research results, and explore new possibilities for digital humanities applications and cross-field collaboration.
